Spur-winged Plover (Spur-winged Lapwing) Vanellus spinosus

There have been a small number of records of this distinctive species in the UK and it's just possible that one or two may relate to genuinely wild vagrants. However at least one of them was clearly an escaped bird and that's the more likely origin for other records too.

The following were photographed in Malawi, where they have recently colonised having expanded their range from further north, and in Turkey.
