Purple Swamphen (Purple Gallinule) Porphyrio porphyrio

This noisy giant blue Moorhen has a limited range in Europe being confined to a few southern Mediterranean regions, probably best known from a few marshes in southern Spain and Portugal. An unlikely vagrant to the UK, but escaped birds have been discovered here. Most, if not all, of these escaped birds have belonged to one of the greyer-headed races, not the European form.
