Eastern Imperial Eagle Aquila heliaca

I think all the main authorities now treat Eastern and Spanish Imperial Eagles as distinct species although some continue to use the original name of Imperial Eagle for the Eastern taxon. In Europe it is restricted to the south-east of the continent where it is described as rare and local. The following photos are taken in Oman where it occurs on passage and in winter.
